Bill, Ted, Vinnie & Buster – Pygmy Goats

Bill and Ted are twin brothers and they came to join the family at 13 weeks of age in January 2023. Billy is described to be the cheeky one of the pair, and Ted the calmer one who will often sit with you and have some quiet time.

Vinnie and Buster are half brothers and came to join us in January 2024 at 8 weeks old. Whilst still young these boys are very confident and brave and enjoy some company.

They are intelligent, friendly, cheeky and fun to be around and are also loving and gentle.

Scientific Name: Capra aegagrus hircus

Class: Mammal

Origin: Africa (Cameroon region)

Diet: Herbivores – would browse in the wild and eat grass, shrubs and trees and in captivity need to eat a lot of hay to keep their digestive system (ruminants) healthy.

Lifespan: 15 years

Interesting Fact: Goats are highly social animals, meaning they need to live in pairs or groups to be happy. They have two-toed hooves that make them great climbers and they love to play and climb high on their resting platforms.

Nice to see you!

Goats’ pupils (like many hooved animals) are rectangular.

This gives them vision for 320 to 340 degrees (compared to humans with 160-210) around them without having to move and they are thought to have excellent night vision.
